Yule Gifts, Low Magic [Fandral]
Jan. 2nd, 2013 11:13 amLet me know if you want to RP out the giving of any of these gifts or need further elaboration.
Generally the gifts to the warrriors of Earth would come after Fandral received his box from Bruce because he's not really up-and-up on Earth stuff, but the Asgardians would receive their lot on time.
Midgardians
Brand: A small circular shield typically disguised as a bracer until activated, at which time it abruptly spreads like a fan; not full-body coverage.
Bruce: A "mood ring" offering a basic read of the wearer's basic emotions based on an idiosyncratic color code, but a metal cinch inside shifts the read upon anybody the wearer touches for 5 seconds or more; and a simple pendant that, when worn, absorbs metabolic heat and converts it to a light strong enough to read by (or a weak flashlight). Also a rueful pack of 12 healing stones.
Pepper: Though they haven't met, Pepper gets a wee decorative device like an orrery. Instead of depicting the local solar system, it's the Yggdrasil tree and the little realms swaying and spinning around, self-animated. Includes a few major figures from myth (e.g., snakes, birds, squirrel zooming up and down).
Pietro: A solid pair of Asgardian boots that would take a few years for even the frictions at Pietro's running speed to wear out, highly heat and cold resistant. It is tooled with silver and styled with a pack of running wolves.
Schmidt: Two lovely Aesir ladies and a collection of five liquors from Asgard, Vanaheim and Alfheim, including mead and bloodwine. Includes written warnings. About all of the above items I suppose. Also a Loki puppet, as is popular with the Aesir children. He heard Schmidt likes puppets.
Steve: A set of two dozen pigments that handle like pencils but with the smoother texture of pastels, clearly Asgardian mineralization, and a scroll of canvas as tall as he is; the shotglass he'd drunk bloodwine out of, trophy style.
Tony: Whisperwyrm, a potion that has an interesting effect (no caption accompanying) when ingested. After the ingester kisses (or is kissed by) someone, they are rendered mute for an hour, during which the two can hear each other's (relatively surface) thoughts, no matter the distance; a smithing hammer of dwarvish make. Probably made for a dwarvish child's strength, but none of us outworlders would know tbh.
Vision: Courtesy of Belor and Belorun the twee dwarves, there's a waterproof, if slightly externally crude-looking fish robot body that can go as deep as 500 feet underwater and fight some pretty strong tides! Not tons of motor accuracy though. Fandral got him a bestiary of native Asgardian wildlife and a haul of the robot scraps from the battle sites in Vanaheim.
Wanda: A pair of red bracers worked with stylized wolves decorating them. Also, a silver saucer that, when filled with water, makes the surface of the water leap and surge like an equalizer in response to singing voices. It does not splash. The peaks reach about four inches. Instructions accompany!
Asgardians
Amora: Dangling earrings shaped like sprays of morning glory flowers, that slowly open (bloom) when exposed to sunlight then close again; a decorative comb by the same insignia that, when placed in her hair, curls the locks into an elaborately braided bun behind her head.
Heimdall: A Tiffany's picture frame with a photograph of Fandral himself in it.
Hogun: A five-piece set of wood-carving tools, dwarven in make; a sweet-tempered white breeding mare for Fandral the Horse.
Fandral: A NEW DWARVEN SWORD. Happy Yule, me! ♥ ♥
Frigga & Odin: Something deplorably expensive from the whole family, as it is every year.
Loki: A Midgardian pinecomb.
Sif: A rig that can comfortably strap her spear (in its reduced form) down her leg and pin up long skirts, coat panels, or other Midgardian-style clothing under which said weapon was supposed to be concealed; a compound bow, inspired by works of Earth, that will accommodate her strength.
Thor: A book of interworld love stories, many with basis and reference to specific timeframe in Asgardian history, clearly intended to share with Jane, or possibly just to give with her, considering she could figure out some rainbow science with it.
Valkyrie: A book of songs with mention of her, the rogue of Earth and total badass, and the other Valkyries; a hunk off the Yule Boar; a small throwing blade of dwarvish make.
Volstagg: Use of a small family estate on Vanaheim (handsomely appointed 4 story tower within a major city's walls, sparsely used, aristocratic vacation home ftw) and a king's ransom in donated toys, most of them showing no signs of prior use at all. WINGMAN. Also a small tin that dispenses spice candy, always seeming to hold no more than 4 more pieces when shaken, but functionally "bottomless" due to some minor magic, never running out.
